A tragic incident unfolded in Halton Hills when two vehicles collided at a busy intersection, leading to the death of a local man. Halton Regional Police reported to the scene at the junction of 17 Side Road and Trafalgar Road around 4:40 pm after the collision.

The accident involved a Ford Taurus, driven by a 76-year-old man from Georgetown, and a Mazda CX5, driven by a 64-year-old woman from Acton. According to the police, the Ford Taurus was heading west on 17 Side Road and was attempting a left turn onto Trafalgar Road when it collided with the northbound Mazda.

The Georgetown man sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Georgetown hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Mazda sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the Mazda had the right of way at the signalized intersection. The collision drew the attention of several witnesses, many of whom stayed at the scene to assist the drivers and provided statements to the police.

The intersection remained closed for several hours, until about 8:00 pm, as the Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted their investigation.
