Waldie’s Blacksmith Shop has a new sidewalk. The installation was made possible by the Milton Historical Society (MHS), and the Milton Community Fund.
“The Society would like to thank Milton Council, the Milton Community Fund Advisory Committee and Town of Milton staff for their continuing support of its activities, most recently through the awarding of funds for the replacement of the sidewalk,” MHS President John Challinor said. The Milton Community fund contributed a grant of $6,419. Construction was finished mid-June.
Challinor, and Mayor Gord Krantz officially opened it on July 1, 2021. “The old sidewalk was a major safety concern for the Society, but no longer. We are most appreciative of the grant,” Challinor said.
In 2001 Milton Council established the Community fund to distribute a portion of funds received from Mohawk Raceway to not-for-profit community organizations. The application period for 2022 initiatives opened early last month. Applications must be received by September 13, 2021. Decisions will be made by January, 2022
