The magical allure of winter will be brought to life again at Mountsberg Conservation Area starting December 28, as Winterlit returns for another enchanting season. This award-winning event captivates visitors with two brilliantly illuminated trails adorned with sustainable art installations, including the spectacular “Tekyuharhtes – Star Lodge” by artist Catherine Tammaro.
Visitors can embark on a one-kilometre journey along the sparkling Sugar Bush and Winterlit trails, enhanced with fireside lounges and photo stations perfect for capturing memories with friends and loved ones. Craig Machan, Director of Parks & Operations at Conservation Halton, highlights the event’s commitment to sustainability: “Winterlit is all about minimizing energy use and environmental impact. We use LED lighting and electricity instead of gas generators, and most wood features are repurposed from ash trees affected by the Emerald Ash Borer.”
The event, running from December 28 to January 7 (closed January 2, 2024) and on weekends from January 12 to February 19, is about more than just the light display. Guests can delve into the Book Nook cabin for a winter book exchange and board games, visit the Den to learn about local wildlife, get up close with resident raptors through the Owl Prowl, and even contribute to the Conservation Halton’s Animal Care Fund by painting a heart for display or purchase. Souvenirs crafted from wood branding are also available.
For those seeking an even more remarkable experience, Winterlit offers special Enchanted Evenings on December 31 and February 10, aligning with New Year’s and Valentine’s Day. These evenings add an extra layer of joy with an Ice Bar, live music, magic acts, roaming light and fire performers, and activities like candle making, providing a unique way to experience nature during the winter and create unforgettable memories.
Located at 2259 Marlborough Town Line, Campbellville, ON, Winterlit invites everyone to immerse themselves in a world of light, art, and winter wonder.
