Halton Region is adding a ninth COVID-19 vaccine clinic in Milton.  Eligible residents can book a first or second dose at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Secondary School in Milton Ontario beginning July 26 for two weeks.

“Our top priority is to get as many people in our community vaccinated as quickly as possible, and these additional clinics will help more residents get their COVID-19 vaccine,” Halton Medical Officer of Health Dr. Hamidah Meghani said.  The clinic at St. Francis Xavier will offer first, and second doses to those 12 years of age and over.

Additionally the province of Ontario will be offering a pop-up vaccine clinic at Craig Kielburger Secondary School Saturday July 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  All appointments can be booked or rebooked through the Region of Halton’s online booking tool.   The Provincial clinic will be held outside the school, and have a limited capacity to take walk-in appointments based on no-shows or cancellations; the last of which will be at 6 pm.

Proof of age is required, as is the completion of a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic screening tool.  Residents are asked to bring no more than one person such as a caregiver or interpreter with them if necessary.  There are also more than 100 pharmacies in Halton offering the COVID-19 vaccine.  “Vaccines teach the immune system to fight off the virus that causes COVID-19”, Meghani explained.

Halton Region added six cases of COVID-19 as of today, with Milton counting for 3 of them.  80% of Halton Residents have had at least one dose of vaccine, while 52% have had two.    “The more residents that get vaccinated, the closer we get to achieving community protection and getting back to normal,” Meghani added.
