HRPS Seek Suspect in Thursday Evening Shooting

Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect and vehicle in a shooting at a Pizza Nova on Derry Rd. Thursday evening.

The incident occurred at a Pizza Nova in the plaza on the northwest corner of Bronte St, and Derry at approximately 6:55 p.m. A lone suspect described as a black male approximately 5’9″ tall entered the business with a black long gun demanding cash from the only employee working inside.  After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fired several rounds inside the restaurant.

He then exited and continued to fire several more rounds before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction driving a black four-door Mazda 3 with an Ontario License Plate number: CPXT541.

Police consider the suspect armed and dangerous, and are advising the public to call 911 immediately.  They are not to approach the vehicle.  Any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident are asked to contact Det/Sgt Dwayne Perron of the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2415.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Derry Rd and Bronte St. South between 6:40 and 7:10 p.m. to come forward with any dash cam or CCTV footage for investigators.  Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at: 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through their website.

Update: 12/6/2021: Arrest Made in Pizza Nova Shooting

The accused was arrested yesterday at a Milton home without incident.  The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting at he Pizza Nova was recovered, and seized by police.

The accused is being is held in custody pending a bail hearing.  Police would like to thank the public for their assistance in helping to bring the investigation to swift, and safe conclusion.
