Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) have charged seven with Impaired Driving Related Offences between February 25-February 28 2022.

On February 25, 2022, just after 10:00 pm, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mill Street East and Frederick Street South in Acton. As a result of an investigation, Kevin Wood (64) of Acton was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.

On February 26, 2022, just before 1:00 am, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Sherin Drive and Bridge Road in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, Muhammad Rehman (48) of Mississauga was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.

On February 26, 2022, just after 9:30 pm, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Plains Road East and St. Matthews Avenue in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, Aleksandra Zdzieblo (38) of Niagara on the Lake was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.

On February 27, 2022, just before 1:30 am, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Ford Drive and Lakeshore Road East in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, Mandeep Bhathal (28) of Hamilton was charged with operation while impaired and blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.

On February 27, 2022, just after 2:30 am, Halton Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Waterdown Road and Masonry Court in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, Alyssa Curran (33) of Binbrook was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.

On February 27, 2022, just before 3:00 pm, Halton Police officers responded to a citizen-initiated complaint in the area of Dorval Drive and North Service Road West in Oakville. As a result of an investigation, Luis Martins (48) of Oakville was charged with operation while impaired.

On February 27, 2022, just before 10:30 pm, Halton Police officers responded to a collision in the area of Guelph Line and Harvester Road in Burlington. As a result of an investigation, Alana Wood (23) of Hamilton was charged with blood alcohol concentration 80mgs or more, within two hours.

The Halton Regional Police Service remains committed to road safety through prevention, education and enforcement initiatives.

Members of the public are reminded that driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is a crime in progress and to call 9-1-1 immediately to report a suspected impaired driver.

Here are some signs of an impaired driver:

  • Driving unreasonably fast, slow or at an inconsistent speed
  • Drifting in and out of lanes
  • Tailgating and changing lanes frequently
  • Making exceptionally wide turns
  • Changing lanes or passing without sufficient clearance
  • Overshooting or stopping well before stop signs or stop lights
  • Disregarding signals and lights
  • Approaching signals or leaving intersections too quickly or slowly
  • Driving without headlights, failing to lower high beams or leaving turn signals on
  • Driving with windows open in cold or inclement weather

The Service’s Twitter and Facebook accounts should not be used for this purpose as they are not monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Please be reminded that all persons charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
