Indo Canadian Club celebrates 67th Indian Republic Day

Indo Canadian Club celebrated India’s 67th  Republic Day  at Lions Club Hall in Milton, Canada. Mayor Gordon Krantz, Member of Provincial Parliament (M.P.P.) Indira Naidoo-Harris and Regional Councillor Rick Di Lorenzo were present to grace the event. The families took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and came dressed in their regional costumes, and sharing their regional delicacies.

 

After the speeches in both Hindi and English by children anthems for both countries were sung.  They were followed by cultural performances by people of all ages.  The final performance was a dance from the Punjab region of India/ Pakistan.  A video of it can be viewed on our Facebook page

January 26, 1950 was the date the Indian constitution came into effect.  It replaced the Government of India Act as the governing document of India.
