Former member of Milton Council John Challinor has said he is up for re-election this October as Local Councillor in Ward 2 of Town of Milton.
He has previously remained member of the Milton Council from 1991 to 2006 and then from 2018 to 2022.
Announcing his candidacy, he said with him as a member, the Town of Milton will make decisions over the next four years that will establish the community’s direction for the next 40 years.
These key decisions, he said, will include approval of a new Official Plan, approval of five secondary plans affecting residential and commercial development, fundamental changes to how core services are delivered to residents and key operating and capital budget expenditures.
“Over the next four years, the residents of Ward 2 need a local councillor who is clearly in their corner, one who balances the financial challenges faced by the municipality with their ability to pay, one who knows the importance of long-term planning and helps Council and staff make convincing arguments to the other levels of government in a way that benefits the majority of Miltonians’ he said.
He further said that there was a need for a councillor who understood that, at its core, the Town of Milton exists to deliver broadly-based, key services to taxpayers efficiently, effectively and in a high-quality fashion.
“I will maintain that single-minded focus for the next four years. I have kept the promises I made to my constituents in 2018. I would appreciate the support of the residents of Ward 2 so that, together, we can continue to build on one of the very best communities in Ontario with which to live, work and play.”
