Milton Council has taken another step forward with the Milton Education Village (MEV). They have approved a secondary plan at the December 14th meeting.
“On behalf of Milton Council, I would like to thank staff, residents, community groups, local businesses and our post-secondary partners Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College for for their continuous support and effort to make the Milton Education Village a reality, Mayor Gord Krantz said. MEV refers to a 400 acre complex on the southwest corner of Tremaine and Derry Rd. centered on the Mattamy National Cycling Centre The area is planned to integrate a 50 acre post-secondary campus with state-of-the-art research and design facilities while incorporating environmentally-conscious urban design.
When complete, the complex will house 2500 knowledge-based jobs. “After many years of meaningful land use planning, the Town of Milton is pleased to announce the adoption of the MEV Secondary Plan,” said Milton’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Andrew Siltala
The secondary plan known as Official Plan Amendment No. 62, will be submitted to Halton Region for approval. The Town of Milton also submit a request for a Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO) from the Province. If granted, this would expedite early phases of development in the area of MEV. Phase one will include post-secondary campuses, affordable housing, a high-school as well as long-term and hospice care. For more information visit this link
