Milton Council Approves Culture Plan

By: Laura Steiner

Milton Council unanimously approved the Town’s first ever Cultural Plan: Here To Stay at its July 19 Council meeting .  Its approval follows a months-long consultation process, and provides guidance for cultural policies for the next 10 years.

“With culture at the centre of community building and development, the culture plan is a path forward and provides a framework to integrate cultural planning into Town projects,” Mayor Gord Krantz said.  The plan is organized under five different themes:

  1. Foster a cultural sector that is both resilient and collaborative
  2. Celebrate Milton’s Diversity
  3. Support Indigenous Cultural Resurgence
  4. Strengthen both economic, and social development that is led by culture
  5. Expand investment in a cultural infrastructure, including places, and spaces
