Milton Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Parm Gill announced the Government of Ontario is continuing its support of innovative projects in Milton. These projects are helping to keep our community healthy and vibrant.
The Milton BMX Track are now the recipients of a $75,700 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This grant will allow the BMX Track to expand its sport and recreation opportunities for families in Milton and across Halton Region.
“We know that activities like these help to improve the health and wellbeing of everyone who participates. With this grant, the spectators, volunteers and participants here at the BMX track are now going to be able to enjoy the facility safely in the evenings,” said MPP Gill. “This funding will enable the cycling facility to install new lighting towers, allowing for more programs to be offered and more kids to participate.”
The Milton BMX Track runs a variety of youth and all-age programs as well as hosting provincial and national amateur competitions.
“In recent years we have seen a dramatic increase in demand for our beginner programs particularly among families with young children. The lighting towers will help us meet this demand by allowing us to continue weekday programming through the fall months,” said Tom Galivan, President of the Milton BMX Volunteer Board.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded more than $120 million to some 700 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities.
