April was Sikh Heritage Month. People from the Milton area gathered to celebrate Sikh heritage for Khalsa Day. Topics discussed included the relevance of the Sikh emblem, meaning of the word Khalsa. Videos on the Sikh way of life, and their contribution to World War I, and World War II were shown.
Region and Local Councillor Mike Cluett was unable to attend, but offered a statement.”As many of your are proud of your heritage at this time, it also makes me even more proud to be a Canadian as we in this country can excel with pride about our diversity and our ability to celebrate events like this,” he said.
The event was co-sponsored by Davinder Bhatia of Grade Learning College Milton, and Fortis Business Solutions. There are plans underway for future initiatives to support Milton charities.
