Milton Transit is on the move with service changes starting September 4, 2018. Improvements include a new route, expanded number of trips to the 401 Industrial area, and service modifications to evening GO drop-off service.
With more trip offerings in new neighbourhoods it’s even easier to take transit. The new 10 Farmstead route will provide service to the Wilmott and Ford neighbourhoods, offering 60 minute service frequency. This route will connect to four Toronto-bound GO trains in the morning and four home-bound GO Trains in the evening.
An additional trip has been added to route 1A Industrial, departing from the Milton GO Station at 5:40 pm, to meet more employment shift times. There is also a service area change for the evening GO Drop-Off Service. The 30 West zone and 31 Central zone routes have been combined for the 5:58 pm trip leaving the Milton GO Station, with one bus servicing both zones. The 6:28 pm and the 6:58 pm trips continue with dedicated flex route service to each of the three zones respectively.
“Expanding service means providing greater accessibility for our residents,” said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “These new and extended routes will provide our citizens more opportunities to travel and connect to work and leisure destinations in Milton.”
With more service hours, Milton Transit encourages riders to consider the added value of Monthly Passes offering unlimited rides during the month indicated on the face of the pass. With GO Station parking often at capacity, Milton Transit reminds GTA commuters about the significant savings with the GO Transit Fare Integration Program. Passengers connecting with GO Transit services at the Milton GO Station can pay a discounted 75 cents cash fare on Milton Transit. A GO Transfer Monthly Pass can be purchased for $30, unlimited GO Transit connections for the month indicated on the face of the pass. A valid PRESTO card, GO pass or GO ticket is required and must be shown to the Operator upon boarding Milton Transit. Regular GO Transit fares apply for all GO Transit service.
Milton Transit second quarter ridership increased by 11% this year, compared to the same period last year. Growth in conventional ridership is attributed to new routes and extended evening hours, which Milton Transit continues to strive to offer in the next quarter of 2018.
