Ontario has lifted the 30 day limit on prescription drugs for Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program medications. The change will take effect June 15, 2020.
“The restriction of supply of medications was critical to prevent drug shortages due to increased demand and stockpiling at the outset of the COVID-19,” Health Minister Christine Elliott said. ODP recipients can return to filling up to a 100-day supply.
“With the supply of medications stabilizing, people can safely go back to getting their regular prescriptions filled. This will be much more convenient for people, especially for our seniors, and vulnerable citizens,” Elliott said. ODB recipients’ co-payments are also set to return to previous amounts. The province will continue to monitor the situation in order to make sure there will be no further disruptions to the drug supply chain.
