The Halton Police have initiated an investigation after discovering a suspicious package at the Bronte GO Station in Oakville.
Authorities were alerted to the presence of the package by a vigilant witness who spotted it on a platform near the tracks, prompting immediate action from law enforcement.
Collaborating closely with Metrolinx representatives, a GO Station section was cordoned off as the Police’s Explosive Disposal Unit assessed the parcel’s nature. A thorough examination determined that the package did not pose an explosive threat.
At approximately 10:20 am, after ensuring the area’s safety, the station was reopened by police. However, train services experienced disruptions for about 5 hours due to the investigation.
The Halton Police are diligently pursuing their inquiry into the origins of the package and whether it was intentionally designed to resemble an explosive device.
