One person is dead following a fire in a housefire in the Steeles Ave. and Tremaine Rd. area of Milton Ontario.
The main floor of a six-unit town-house was engulfed when Halton Regional Police arrived on-scene at around 12:30 a.m. this morning. Officers tried to enter in order to locate the occupant, but flames, and heavy smoke forced officers to leave. Two officers were assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The Milton Fire Department recovered the body after extinguishing the blaze. Media reports identify the victim as a 65-year old woman. The other inhabitants were unharmed.
The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate to determine the cause. HRPS is asking anyone with information to contact their District 1 Criminal Investigations Bureau at: 905-825-4777, ext. 2416.
