The Town of Milton is closing all recreation facilities in response to Ontario’s move to a modified stage 2 as they seek to respond to COVID-19 Omicron variant.
Milton Public Library branches will remain open with their capacity limited to 50%. Milton Town Hall will remain open with a 10 customer limit in place. Residents are asked to call 905-878-7252 to make an appointment, or use any of the online tools.
Halton reported an increase of 836 cases of COVID-19 on January 7, 214 of which are from Milton. Acute Care beds at Halton’s three hospitals are 115% occupied with 61 confirmed cases of COVID-19. ICU (Intensive Care Unit) beds are 80% occupied with 12 confirmed cases.
Halton Healthcare is reminding residents that Emergency departments are under pressure. “Abuse of staff and physicians is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” they posted on their Facebook page:
Testing capacity, case contact, and outbreak management is now focusing on high-risk settings. This means the numbers are likely higher than reported.
The Town Of Milton reminds residents to follow all public-health precautions including:
- Get Vaccinated, including a booster
- Stay home if you’re sick
- Wash or sanitize your hands regularly
- Wear a mask at indoor public spaces
- Physically distance
