Town of Milton Closes Town To Help slow spread of COVID-19

To minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Town of Milton is expanding its COVID-19 (Coronavirus) precautions and closing Town Hall to the public effectively immediately until April 5. Modified business services will continue and a complete list of services that are not available at this time and those remaining open will be provided as soon as possible.

The Town of Milton has established a Crisis Management Team (CMT) of senior staff and this decision was made in consultation with the Mayor. The CMT has been and continues to meet daily and is operating the Town of Milton Emergency Response Plan at a Level 2.

Parking ticket payments can be paid online or dropped in the secure drop box. By-law enforcement complaints can be made via the myMILTON app, online, or via phone. Tax payments can be dropped in the drop box, paid online, paid at your bank or mailed in. General inquiries can be made by phone or e-mail.

A secure drop box is available outside Town Hall entrances for payments, letters, applications, etc.

Milton Transit

Milton Transit continues to operate on a regular schedule with the exception of school specials. Effective immediately, cash fares will replace paper tickets due to the closure of all ticket agencies.  Transit riders may use existing tickets or pay a cash fare of $2.20.

Council and Committee Meetings

Upcoming committee meetings have been cancelled, and the March 30 Town Council meeting is currently under review.

“I know the community is concerned about the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation,” said Mayor Gord Krantz. “The Town continues to closely monitor the situation and is prepared to take further action, if necessary, to protect the health and safety of residents and staff.”

Halton Region Public Health is the lead agency ensuring all necessary protocols are followed. The agency is working with the Ministry of Health, Public Health Ontario and local healthcare providers to monitor the situation and take actions as appropriate. Town of Milton staff are in constant communication with Halton Region Public Health to ensure the Town is prepared to respond to the situation as it evolves.
