The Milton Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) is recognizing the contributions of young people in Milton, as well as businesses, agencies and organizations who support youth, through four youth awards. The purpose of the awards is to promote a positive image of young people and to generate awareness of the valuable contributions that youth and supportive adults make in our community.
It’s important to acknowledge and celebrate our youth, as they represent our future,”said Mayor Gord Krantz. “Milton has a great population of young innovators, thinkers and achievers. I am proud of Milton’s commitment to being youth friendly.”
Milton youth in grades 7 to 12 are eligible to be nominated in award categories that include; Credit for Creativity Award, Mattamy Community Leadership Award and the Spirit of Sport Award. Adults, businesses, agencies and organizations who work in support of youth are eligible for the Champion of Youth Award.
Members of MYAC determined the four award categories and the eligibility criteria. Award recipients will be recognize at Milton Council June 24. The application deadline is May 10. The Milton Youth Advisory Committee (MYAC) is a group of volunteers ranging in ages 13 to 18, who provide input, offer advice, and propose solutions to impact change surrounding issues of youth in Milton.
