Town Of Milton Reminds Residents to Stay Fireworks Safe for Diwali

To minimize the risk of fire and burn injuries during Diwali celebrations, the Milton Fire Department urges residents to take precautions if they are participating in family fireworks or informal neighbourhood displays.

This year, the Milton Fire Department reminds residents that setting off fireworks in public spaces such as parks and streets is prohibited according to By-law No. 037-2009.

Anyone wishing to set off or display family fireworks must apply for a temporary permit through the Milton Fire Department’s website ahead of time and will need to meet requirements such as minimum lot line distances and other safety factors demonstrating that the display will be held a safe manner. Sparklers are not considered fireworks, but must be used with extreme caution.

Apply for a firework discharge permit online. For more information about firework safety visit our website.
