Rainfall Warning: Milton Ontario May 4, 2017

Environment Canada has put Milton under a rainfall warning.  The rain, beginning today is expected to last until Saturday afternoon.  The area is expecting 40-70 mm of rain.  It will shift to showers by Saturday night.

The agency warns the ground is already saturated, and this raises the risk of potential local flooding.  For information regarding flooding follow Conservation Halton on Twitter.  If you see flooding in Milton, call 311 and inform Region staff.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.  Environment Canada advises not to approach washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.

Update: May 5, 2017: Conservation Halton Issues Flood Watch

Conservation Halton has issued a flood watch effective 12:30 yesterday afternoon.  “All watercourses and shoreline areas should be considered dangerous during this time.”  The agency advises residents in flood-prone areas to be on alert.  Widespread flooding is not expected.

Conservation Halton is asking residents to stay away from culverts, brdiges, watercourses, shorelines, and dams.  The flood watch will be in effect until Monday May 8, 2017.
