Milton Walkathon Aims to Top $35,000 Raised for Hospital Foundation

Milton Residents Step Up for Local Healthcare This Saturday

A community-wide walk through Milton’s neighbourhoods is set to make a meaningful difference for local healthcare, as hundreds of residents are expected to lace up their shoes this Saturday in aid of the Milton District Hospital Foundation.

The Milton Family Walkathon, jointly organized by the ICNA Milton Chapter and the Milton Muslim Hub, will take place on May 9 at Milton Community Park, located at 805 Santa Maria Blvd., beginning at 10:00 a.m. The morning’s activities will wrap up at 12:30 p.m. with a closing ceremony and cheque presentation at the Milton Sport Centre Banquet Hall.

The event carries real stakes for local healthcare. The Milton District Hospital Foundation channels privately raised dollars directly into essential medical equipment — resources that fall outside provincial government funding and depend entirely on community generosity. Last year’s walkathon delivered $35,000 toward that mission, and this year’s organizers are determined to match or exceed that figure.

Though the initiative is rooted in partnerships among several faith-based organizations, the walkathon is open to all. Organizers have made clear that participation is not limited by background or affiliation — the event is designed as a celebration of the broader Milton community.

The walkathon is also drawing notable civic attention, with the Mayor of Milton, the local Member of Parliament, Member of Provincial Parliament, and regional representatives all expected to join participants on the day.

Yousuf Muhammad, Chair of the Family Walkathon and representative of the Milton Muslim Hub, is encouraging all residents, local businesses, and organizations to take part, donate, or show their support in any capacity.
