The province of Ontario is extending its emergency orders until June 19, 2020. The move is designed to provide flexibility to the healthcare system as it continues to respond to COVID-19.
“It is critical that we keep these emergency orders in place so we can continue to reopen the province gradually, and safely,” Ontario Premier Doug Ford said. Under phase one of the plan, retail outside malls, and with a street entrance has been allowed to reopen. Ford has indicated that there will be more information on phase two next week.
The extension also applies to orders given in regards to the legal system. The province will extend the suspension of the limitation and time periods in proceedings until September 11, 2020. The are currently 38 emergency orders in place affecting everything from the Electricity price to limits on public gatherings.
Ontario has recorded 457 new cases of COVID 19 including 68 impacted by a lab-to-public health reporting delay. Halton Region stands with an increase of 1 case over yesterday to 667. Milton has 178, with another 14 probable cases.
