Milton Organizations to Share $79,416 Funding for local Seniors’ Programs

Four Milton-based seniors’ groups will share in $79,416. The funding was announced by Milton MP Adam van Koeverden on behalf of Seniors’ Minister Deb Shulte.

“The strong and resilient Canada we have inherited is thanks to the hard work of older generations. These four organizations are providing programming and services to our neighbours who helped build this country,” van Koeverden said.

The four organizations in Milton that received funding are: the Town of Milton, St. Paul’s United Church, Centre for Skills Development Canada, and the Halton Gujarati Seniors’ Samaj (HGSS). HGSS will be using their share for new tablets, for members to stay in touch with families. “We will educate them on how to use the devices,” HGSS Secretary Hassu Bihari said.

The funding comes from the New Horizons for Seniors Program, where community based projects are eligible for up to $25,000 in funding. The program is accepting a new round of applications until October 20, 2020. For more information click here
