As 2024 passed, United Way Halton & Hamilton is celebrating the community’s resilience, compassion, and generosity in addressing critical needs. Despite challenges, the organization highlighted the collective impact of local efforts, from providing comfort to isolated seniors to offering safe havens for individuals fleeing domestic violence.

The organization said that last year has brought its share of highs and lows, but one constant that has shone through is our community’s generosity, compassion, and resilience.

The holiday season has seen a record-breaking rise in support requests, with the Holiday Helping Hand program receiving double the usual number of requests. Rising costs and economic pressures leave many families without basic necessities, underscoring the vital need for community contributions.

The statement continued that we cannot provide the services our community sorely needs without you.

In 2023, United Way Halton & Hamilton raised a historic $12.5 million, supporting over 124 critical social services programs through agency partners. This year, the organization aims to build on that success with the return of the Local Love Community Match. For every $4 donated, generous community members will match $1, amplifying the impact of each gift.

The statement concluded, “As we embrace the spirit of giving, I wish you and your loved ones a season filled with joy, health, and togetherness. “
