The community of Milton is grieving the loss of a young life as an online petition for the missing teen continues to grow, now with over 1,000 signatures. As residents struggle to come to terms with the heart-wrenching discovery of his body, heartfelt tributes have flooded social media, with friends, family, and neighbours expressing their sorrow and disbelief. The tragic loss has shaken the tight-knit community, as people reflect on the absence of a bright future cut far too short.
A 15-year-old Milton teen who went missing earlier this month has been found dead, according to Halton Regional Police.
Prajin Anbanandhan was last seen on the evening of June 8 near Gifford Crescent and Philbrook Drive in Milton. He was reported missing that night around 9 p.m. Police say he was riding a blue and black bicycle at the time and was wearing black cargo pants and a black jacket.
The Halton Regional Police Service confirmed that Prajin’s body was discovered around 10 p.m. on June 19 near Guelph Line, south of 2 Sideroad, a rural area bordering Burlington.
In a statement released to media, police said: “Prajin’s death is not considered suspicious.” Authorities have not released any details about the cause of death and have asked the public and media to respect the family’s privacy.
Prajin was described as a vulnerable youth. Police had issued several updates during the search, including a security camera image captured around 1:12 a.m. on June 9 at the intersection of Derry Road and Guelph Line. The image showed a teen matching Prajin’s description riding a bicycle, appearing to head south toward Burlington—the area where his body was ultimately found.
Following his disappearance, community members rallied online, creating a petition and sharing heartfelt messages across social media platforms. The petition received more than 1,000 signatures and called for more awareness and support for vulnerable youth in the area.
Despite multiple attempts by local media, Prajin’s family has declined to speak publicly about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Community members, including friends, neighbours, and teachers, expressed shock and sorrow over the outcome.
“We ask for continued respect and privacy for the family during this incredibly difficult time,” said Halton police. “No further details will be released.”
Police also asked media outlets and the public to refrain from sharing photos of Prajin online in the days following the discovery, in an effort to give the grieving family space.
Investigators noted there is a possibility Prajin had connections in the Burlington area but did not elaborate on the nature of those ties.
As of now, no criminal activity is suspected, but the investigation remains open pending the results of the coroner’s examination.
Anyone with further information is asked to contact the Halton Regional Police Service or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
