The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating and making arrests in a series of serious incidents across the region this month, including a shooting in Georgetown, sexual assault and human trafficking investigations in Oakville, and multiple vehicle thefts in Milton.

On October 29, just after 10:30 p.m., police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Tenth Line and River Drive in Georgetown. Officers located evidence confirming that a shooting had occurred, though no victims or suspects were found at the scene. A short time later, two individuals suffering from serious but non-life-threatening injuries arrived at a nearby hospital. The HRPS Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is appealing to anyone with dash cam footage from the area between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. to contact police at 905-825-4776.

Earlier in the week, on October 22, HRPS arrested Calogero “Carlo” Triassi, 46, of Oakville, following an investigation into allegations of sexual assault involving two female youths. The offences are alleged to have occurred between 2020 and 2025 at the accused’s residence. Triassi faces multiple charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference, and making and possessing child sexual abuse material. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton. Investigators believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970.

In Milton, a quick police response to an attempted vehicle break-in led to several arrests and the recovery of stolen cars. Around 2:45 a.m. on October 21, police were called to the area of Kovachik Boulevard, where officers located three stolen vehicles attempting to flee. Using a tire deflation device, police stopped one of the vehicles and arrested two teens—a 15-year-old male from Hamilton and a 16-year-old female from Ancaster—on charges including possession of stolen property, flight from police, and dangerous operation. A third youth, aged 11, was also detained but cannot be charged due to age. Police say the group is connected to multiple vehicle thefts and break-ins in Milton on October 20 and 21.

Meanwhile, a joint human trafficking investigation between Halton and Peel police has resulted in the arrest of Shemica Duncan, 33, of Oakville. Investigators allege Duncan, who also goes by “Coco,” exploited three adult women in the sex trade throughout the Greater Toronto Area using coercion, violence, and manipulation. She faces numerous charges, including trafficking in persons, procuring, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, and uttering threats. Duncan is being held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

The HRPS is urging anyone with information regarding these or other ongoing investigations to contact police or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
