Halton Regional Police Service says a registered massage therapist has been charged with sexual assault following an investigation at a local spa.

Li Ming Qu, 69, also known as “Leslie,” of Toronto, was arrested on Dec. 15 in connection with an alleged assault on an adult female during a massage at Be Pampered Spa at 700 Guelph Line in Burlington. Qu was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.

Police say Qu is also employed at a second Be Pampered Spa location in Burlington. They believe there may be additional victims and have released a photograph of the accused.

Anyone with information, or anyone who has been victimized by Qu, is asked to contact the Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8970. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.

Sexual assault is defined as any sexual touching of another person without consent, ranging from unwanted touching to sexual assault involving penetration. Police say there is no statute of limitations for sexual assault, meaning incidents can be reported regardless of when they occurred. Victims of sexual assault or violence can also contact Halton Regional Police Victim Services at 905-825-4777 for support.

Halton police are also investigating a recent increase in break-and-enters targeting homes near greenspaces, ravines and trail systems. Officers say suspects often wear dark clothing, gloves and facial coverings, and strike quickly before fleeing through nearby wooded areas. Entry is frequently gained by smashing rear doors or windows, and thieves often target cash, jewelry, luxury goods and identification.

In response, police have increased patrols in affected areas and are reviewing surveillance footage while canvassing for additional video. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, secure all doors and windows, install alarms or security cameras, maintain the appearance that a home is occupied, and report any suspicious activity immediately.

Separately, Halton Regional Police have arrested Ambady Sajeev, 27, of Oshawa, following an investigation into high-end vehicle fraud. Police say Sajeev attended Budd’s Imported Cars at 227 Wyecroft Road in Oakville on Dec. 11 to purchase a Land Rover SUV valued at over $200,000, providing fraudulent identification.

HRPS’s Financial Crimes Unit confirmed Sajeev’s identity and arrested him on Dec. 16. He faces charges including fraud over $5,000, identity fraud with intent to personate, and failure to comply with a probation order. He has been released on an undertaking with a future court date in Milton.

“Vehicle theft can take many forms, and this incident highlights how criminals exploit various schemes to acquire high-end vehicles,” said Detective Sergeant Jared McLeod, manager of Financial Crimes. “Thanks to Budd’s staff for identifying the fraudulent identification, demonstrating how community vigilance helps hold criminals accountable.”

Anyone with information regarding the Sajeev investigation is asked to contact the Financial Crimes Unit at 905-825-4777 ext. 8739.
