Local youth looking to burn off some energy after the holiday break will have a new way to do so.
The Town of Halton Hills, in partnership with Canadian Tire Jumpstart, is launching “Hoops for Youth,” a free drop-in basketball program designed to provide teens and young adults with a space to stay active.
Starting Tuesday, Jan. 6, the gym at Robert Little Public School (41 School Ln., Acton) will open its doors twice a week, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m., for the program.
Individuals can meet staff at the Acton Youth Centre (19 Willow St. N.) at 5:45 p.m. to walk over together, or meet at the school at 6 p.m.
The initiative is specifically geared toward youth ages 12 to 24 and is scheduled to run until April 29.
The open gym sessions will have all necessary equipment provided on-site with town staff present to supervise the sessions.
The program will not run on March 17 and 18 due to March break.
More information about the program and youth programming for the month can be found on Halton Hills’ website. Questions about the basketball program can be sent via email to edunn@haltonhills.ca.
