Bestselling authors headline Halton Hills library’s virtual speaker series

Halton Hills Public Library will be bringing a slate of bestselling authors and changemakers to local screens for its 2026 virtual speaker series.

 

The online program, presented in partnership with the Library Speakers Consortium, offers free access to live talks and Q&A sessions with acclaimed writers, journalists and historians.

 

The 2026 lineup kicks off on Jan. 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. with New York Times columnist and bestselling author David Brooks.

 

Brooks will discuss his latest book, “How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply,” exploring how to foster deeper connections in a fragmented world.

 

Later in the month, fiction lovers can tune in on Jan. 28, 2026, at 7 p.m. for a conversation with Liz Moore, the author behind the novel “The God of the Woods.”

 

Moore will discuss her “dynasty of secrets” and the themes of second chances that define her work.

 

The winter schedule also features:

 

  Jan. 20, 2026, at 2 p.m.: Journalist Julia Hotz on her book “The Connection Cure” and the science of social prescribing.

 

  Feb. 5, 2026, at 7 p.m.: Novelist Vanessa Riley discussing historical fiction and high-seas adventures in her newest book “Fire Sword and Sea.”

 

  Feb. 12, 2026, at 2 p.m.: Dr. Lindsey Stewart on the legacy of America’s founding Black women through her book “The Conjuring of America: Mojos, Mermaids, Medicine, and 400 years of Black Women’s Magic.”

 

  Feb. 24, 2026, at 2 p.m.: Smithsonian Curator Emeritus Tom Crouch on the history of the world’s largest museum, education and research complex.
