FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton remains closed in light of COVID-19 related restrictions, however the Centre is launching virtual programming for those at home seeking culture and connection. ArtSparks Community, powered by FirstOntario, will feature three, one hour, classes each week beginning Monday April 27 suitable for all ages.
ArtSparks Community features ‘Movement Mondays’ with virtual dance lessons, on Wednesday’s ‘Little Sparks’ invites the family to take part in art and craft workshops and the ‘Friday Night Spotlight’ sees live-streamed performances by local Milton artists taking centre stage. A weekly listing of events will be posted on firstontarioartscentremilton.ca and on the Centre’s social channels each week prior. The series is currently scheduled to run to the end of June.
“The goal of this program, which is co-presented by the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton and Arts Milton, is to encourage social interaction between artists and the community while providing an opportunity for creative connections while in self-isolation” said Manager of Cultural Services, Carly Anderson. “We are excited to partner with Arts Milton to showcase and share the knowledge and talents of our community”.
ArtSparks Community is this year’s alternative to ArtSparks, a free, annual program that provides the opportunity for Milton elementary school students to visit the Centre for a performance or workshop, free of charge.
For local artists interested in participating, please contact arts@milton.ca. For more information, including schedule of programming we invite you to visit www.firstontarioartscentremilton.ca.
