The Region of Halton has issued a “Do not Drink Water advisory” for approximately 150 homes and businesses in the Milton Heights area caused by a watermain break near the intersection of Bronte and Steeles Ave. Region officials suspect debris has entered the pipe. It applies to tap water.
The advisory applies to the following area: Steeles Ave west from Bronte, to 3230 Steeles Ave West, Peru Rd from Steeles to northerly direction to Number 3 side road; No. 3 side road from Peru to Tremaine Rd, and Tremaine Rd from the 401 south to 75 Tremaine Rd, and all of Milton Heights Crescent.
Boiling water will not make it to safe to drink. Residents are advised not to use tap water to:
- drink, gargle, brush teeth/ rinse dentures;
- Prepare food: hot/cold beverages, ice cubes, and baby food or formula;
- Wash fruits, vegetables, and other food or
- Wash dishes
The Region of Halton suggests using bottled water for drinking, bathing, washing, and other household uses.
Adults, teens and older children can use the water to bathe, but should avoid swallowing it. Toddlers and infants should be given sponge baths instead of tub baths/ showers.

Update: 11/12/2017: Drink Water Advisory still in Effect
The Region of Halton reports that the watermain in the Bronte/Steeles area has been repaired. The Region is conducting water testing in the area in accordance with the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change regulations. The advisory remains in effect until further notice.
Update: 12/12/2017: Drink Water Advisory Lifted
The Region of Halton reports this morning, the drink water advisory for Milton Heights has been lifted. Region officials are hand-delivering notifications to affected homes, and businesses.
