Ontario is calling for businesses to support truck drivers. As part of the efforts the province is keeping its 23 ONroute travel plazas open for business. The announcement was made by Deputy Premier Christine Elliott, and Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney in a statement.
“We expect businesses who rely on truck drivers to provide necessary facilities for these heroes. We need everyone to do their part to make sure drivers can keep doing their jobs safely,” they said. The OnRoute travel plazas provide take-out, grab & go, and drive-through services as well as washrooms with enhanced cleaning. The province will provide the 32 truck inspection stations with portable washrooms.
“Ontario is committed to supporting the trucking industry and we would like to thank commercial carriers and truck drivers for everything that they’ve done to keep goods moving during the COVID-19 outbreak.”
