Fascinators, gloves, and Sunday finery were on display Sunday September 24 at the Third Annual High Tea for Hospice. Seasons’ Retirement Community hosted three sittings in their theatre. 100% of the proceeds went to the Townsend-Smith Foundation.
The Foundation is dedicated to the establishment of a hospice in North Halton. The family of local firefighter Ron Townsend including wife Janet, and children Matt and Amy identified a need for a hospice, and began fundraising. In 2009 they became aware of Tessie Smith, a well-known Tai-Chi instructor. Her family, and friends led by husband Lyndon were meeting with the same goal. The two groups gathered together, and began raising money for a cause. To learn more about them visit their website
The Townsend-Smith High Tea has raised $5,030 from the event September 24.
