Toronto’s Best Chefs United for Willow Breast & Hereditary Cancer Support

By: Joyce Leung

Willow Breast & Hereditary Cancer Support was founded in 1994 and provides free programs for people and families going through hereditary cancer. For the last 20 years, Willow has hosted a fundraising gala to raise awareness and funds for this great cause.  The yearly event is praised to be one of the best food event in Toronto. It rallies 60 females chefs from across Toronto serving up their finest cuisine.

Guests sampled their way through the 60 food stations ranging from appetizers, drinks, to desserts. A silent auction was held throughout the night with some amazing prizes.  You could also purchase a mystery bag for $20 for a chance to win some cool swag. Tickets to the event ranged from $150 (early bird) to $175- all going to the charity.

Guests were warmly ushered into Roy Thompson Hall. There was live music along with a DJ playing all night to keep the atmosphere alive and welcoming.

The list of chefs participating were outstanding and covered many different types of foods. The impressive line up included, Dufflet Rosenberg from Dufflet Pastries, Bonnie Gordon from Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionery Arts, Erin Marcus from Ace Bakery, Kyla Eaglesham from Madeleines, and many more.

In the last 20 years, Eat to the Beat has raised over $3.7 million! This year alone they raised over $200,000! This great event definitely lived up to the hype! If you are planning to go to one food event in Toronto next year, I would highly recommend this one. The crowd and chefs showed great support to the Willow charity and it was great to see Toronto come together for such a great cause.

Thank you Peter Ashworth from Ashworth Associates Inc for having us at the event. Please support Willow by donating your time or money. Check out willow.org to find out more information about Willow Breast & Hereditary Cancer Support!
