On Sunday April 10, 2016 at approximately 1435hrs, Halton Regional Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the Town of Milton. The collision occurred on James Snow Parkway, east of Esquesing Line.
The involved vehicle, a black, two-door, Nissan 350z, was travelling westbound on James Snow Parkway towards Esquesing Line when it lost control, left the roadway to the north and struck a streetlight pole. The involved vehicle caught fire and responding officers worked to extinguish the flames prior to the arrival of the Milton Fire Department. Sadly, the driver was pronounced deceased on scene. Good Samaritans stopped at the collision scene and assisted in removing the passenger from the vehicle. EMS subsequently treated the passenger, who was then airlifted to a trauma centre where the passenger died of his injuries.
Due to the nature of the collision, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. While at the scene, police learned that the passenger succumbed to his injuries while at hospital.
Several witnesses were identified at the scene and provided statements to police.
Police are examining why the collision took place however speed is being investigated as a factor.
James Snow Parkway was closed for approximately five hours for the investigation.
Several police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.

Update 15/4/2016:
This remains an active investigation involving members of the Collision Reconstruction Unit. To date the investigation has identified a number of community members and witnesses who came forward to assist at the scene. The Halton Regional Police Service would like to thank these individuals and members of other emergency services for their efforts and responses. We intend on formally recognizing them following the conclusion of our investigation.
