Milton Councillor Rick Di Lorenzo launched his re-election bid. The popular councillor launched the campaign from his home in the new ward 3. “People in Milton look out for each other. They care about each other,” he told crowd of supporters.
He sees some tough decisions coming for the new council. “The next council will have some very difficult decisions financially speaking on how to maintain the services and look for efficiencies, or if we want cutbacks.” Di Lorenzo explained. The recent budget call report, which is the first step towards the 2019 municipal budget calls for an approximate tax hike of 12%. Budget deliberations will take place in early December.
The boundaries in the new ward 3 (South-East Milton) are: Derry Rd south to the Lower Base Line, East to 407, and west to Thompson Rd. The municipal election will take place on October 22, 2018. Di Lorenzo is running against Usman Kayani and fellow Councillor Robert Duvall.
