Health Canada has seized unauthorized kratom products from Culture Rising in Milton Ontario. Kratom is described as ‘a herbal product that may pose serious health risks when swallowed or inhaled.’ Sale of this product is illegal unless authorized by Health Canada
The products affected are:
- Botanicals Green Vein kratom powder
- Botanicals Red Vein kratom powder
- Botanicals Super Green Vein kratom powder
- Botanicals Maeng Da kratom powder
- Kratomsource.ca Red Bali kratom powder
Health Canada advises the public to immediately stop using the products, and consult with a healthcare professional if there are any concerns. Side effects include drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, seizures, liver toxicity and an excessively fast heartbeat. Kratom has been linked to both narcotic and stimulant-like effects. It has potential for abuse and dependence.
Health Canada is working with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to stop kratom products from illegally entering Canada. Culture Rising is located at: 1248 Main St. East, Milton Ontario.
