Milton Mayor Gord Krantz is asking for residents’ patience as the town of Milton begins reopening. He released a statement thanking Miltonians for their patience as the town has made its way through COVID-19.
“Businesses have demonstrated resiliency in how they do business, whether changing how they do business, incorporating new digital tools, or adapting to alternate work locations.” Some businesses (Jays Ice Cream) have limited the amount of people inside their shops, offered curbside pickup, or allowed employees to work from off-site.
He also stressed the need to obey public health guidelines. “The COVID-19 situation is not over.” Guidelines include physical distancing of 2 meters or more, staying home as much as possible, and wearing a non-medical mask where physical distancing isn’t possible. Public Health Officer Dr. Hamidah Meghani has made it mandatory for residents coming into contact with COVID-19 should be self-isolating for 14 days.
“With the warmer weather, I know we want to get out and enjoy the sunshine and it’s even more difficult for the kids. Parents, I’m asking for your assistance, especially in that you please remind your children to follow the rules,” Krantz said. The Town of Milton has begun opening its amenities including skate parks, leash-free dog parks, and gazebos.
“Milton, we are in this together, and I thank you for your cooperation as we respond to and recover from the pandemic.” Krantz said. The province announced the first set of regions that would reopen, and Halton was not among them. Halton has a total of 691 cases, an increase of 7 over yesterday. 188 of these are in Milton.
