The province of Ontario has announced Halton will moved to the red (control) level in the COVID-19 Response Framework as of Monday November 16 at 12:01 am.

The move was made in response to worsening data in the Region’s fight against COVID-19.   Halton’s weekly incidence sits at 54.9 confirmed cases per 100,000 people.  The testing positivity is 4.4%.

The Region’s Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Dr. Hamidah Meghani released a letter a letter to the community.  Meghani recommended residents do the following three things:

  • Stay home, except for essential purposes such as going to work or school, buying essentials such as groceries, and attending medical appointments.
  • Maintain a physical distance of two metres (six feet) from those outside their
household. Those that live alone may join one designated household.
  • Avoid all social gatherings such as play dates, birthday parties, and dinner parties with  friends or family

Meghani ends her letter acknowledging the residents’ sacrifices.  “I realize that these recommended measures are not easy to follow.  Please know that the actions of each and every individual matter a great deal.  By remaining vigilant, and taking these measures seriously, we can help keep our community safe.  For more information on the Region’s response visit their website
