Independent local filmmakers from Halton, Peel, and across southern Ontario will once again have their work shown alongside some of the most acclaimed feature films of the year at the fourth annual Milton Film Festival, taking place January 26-28, 2018 at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton.
The Festival’s selection committee, which includes Milton author and former Toronto Star film critic Ron Base, received over 40 short films submitted by professional, amateur, and student filmmakers. These were then shortlisted by Programming Chair and Short Film Coordinator Katherine Pearce, who remarked on the extraordinary calibre of this year’s contenders.
“With more submissions than we’ve ever had, it was difficult to pick just seven!” said Pearce. “If this is any indication of what we can expect in the future, I look forward to sharing even more spectacular shorts – these films don’t always get the traction feature films do and they deserve to be seen by audiences all over. This year’s short films are by turns funny, dramatic, bold, and creative. Enjoy!”

Most of the filmmakers will be attending the Festival to introduce their films.
All short films are eligible for the KKP Audience Choice Award for Best Short Film. Audience members will receive a ballot at each screening that includes a short film, and will be asked to rate it with one to five stars. The winner will be announced the week after the Festival.
