Milton residents gathered at a local hotel to commemorate the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday by observing Milad un-Nabi.  The event was organized by Jamia Riydahul Jannah Mosque, and Minmaxx Realty.  It featured Guest Speakers Qari Syed, Fasihuddin Sohawardy, and a special presentation from Service And Friendship Assisting Refugee Immigration (S.A.F.A.R.I.).  “I am tremendously humbled for the privilege that God has continuously given me to organize an event in honour of our last prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him)”, said Rabiya Azim, Chief Operating Officer, Minmaxx Realty.

Guests included Member of Provincial Parliament (M.P.P.) Indira Naidoo-Harris, and Milton Town Councillors Anrold Huffman, and Rick Di Lorenzo.  Attendees enjoyed traditional poetic praise of the Prophet Muhammad or NAAT as said by Quari Syed.  “This is a great opportunity for us to come together with family, friends, neighbours, and our community to celebrate the life of the Holy Prophet,” Naidoo-Harris said.  “It is particularly special today because we can do some good work for our brothers and sisters in Syria.  Over 200 people attended the fundraiser.

“Today we remain in accordance with the spirit of Islam to integrate the society that we are now a part of and welcome Syrian families to this great country,” Azim Rizvee commented.  Rizvee ran for the Liberal Party in the Milton riding during the 2015 federal election.
