Nominations now open for Milton Sports Hall of Fame

Milton residents are invited to submit nominations for the Milton Sports Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is a joint venture between the Town of Milton and Milton Sports Hall of Fame Incorporated and will be a new feature located at the Milton Sports Centre that will highlight the achievements of individuals and teams from the Milton area that have made a significant impact on the sporting community.

Nominations are being accepted until June 9 for athletes and teams of recognized sports, and non-athletes who contribute to the operation or governance of a recognized sport.

The Hall of Fame will showcase athletes and builders of sport. The project is being run by a volunteer Board of Directors whose mandate is to acknowledge the significant achievements and contributions to sport in the Milton community.

“Sport is much more than physical activity,” said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “Sport brings people together, whether you’re competing side by side, or cheering as fans for the same team. The Milton Sports Hall of Fame will bring people closer to their community with the ability to learn and explore Milton’s rich sporting heritage, while also inspiring our next generation of athletes.”

Along with nominations, as a not-for-profit organization, the Milton Sports Hall of Fame is also currently looking for sponsors who are interested in getting involved in the project. More details, including nomination forms and sponsorship opportunities, can be found on our website.
