Ontario Implements Emergency Order for Long-Term Care Homes

Ontario is implementing a new system when it comes to inspecting its long-term care homes.  A new Emergency Order will see the nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists will serve as point people with public health.

“I want to assure you that we are working around the clock to keep your loved ones safe and we will not stop acting to keep long-term care residents safe and secure,” Dr. Merilee Fullerton, Minister of Long-Term Care said.  This is the second Emergency Order issued this week on Long-Term Care.

Finance Minister Rod Phillips announced an additional $243 million in funding to support Long-Term Care homes during the COVID-19 outbreak.  This is the second emergency order dealing with long-term care.  The first allowed the institutions to reasign staffing as needed to deal with the outbreak.
