Ontario Kicks off $50 million Ontario Together Fund

Ontario has launched a $50 million “Ontario Together” fund.  The announcement was made by Premier Doug Ford, Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade Minister Vic Fedeli, and Deputy Premier Christine Elliott.

“Ontario has an army of innovators, entrepreneurs, and the hardest-working people in the world ready to roll up their sleeve, support our frontline workers and beat this virus,” Ford said.  The funding will be used to help businesses provide innovative solutions, or retool in order to make medical supplies including coveralls, gowns, face masks, and ventilators.

The Ministries of Health of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade have been working with the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association to begin production on 10,000 ventilator units.  “Ontario has acted quickly to save lives, this is what matters most today,” Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association President Flavio Volpe said. Companies involved in the effort include: Linamar, Magna, Martinrea and ABC Technologies.

“It’s inspiring to see the Ontario business community respond to the call to action,” Fedeli said.  For more information on this initiative visit their website.
