Milton Council unanimously endorsed the Town’s 2020 Climate Change Work Plan. The framework builds on the Climate Emergency Declaration declared on July 22, 2019.
“While it is a global issue, there are local actions we can take to fight climate change. The Town of Milton’s 2020 Climate Change Work Plan focuses on a shared responsibility to protect our environment. We all need to do our part,” Mayor Gord Krantz said.
The Town’s 2020 Climate Change work plan is as follows:
- Become a member of the Partners for Climate Protection and commit to the five milestones identified by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities
- Keep the community informed through launching online content to share activities, plans and educational material
- Incorporate a number of public engagement opportunities for residents, community organizations and businesses
- Continue implementing, coordinating and pursuing green initiatives
- Report back to Council about opportunities related to green energy such as electric vehicles (EV) and development-driven EV charging stations in new developments
“The Town of Milton applies a smart growth lens to development, enabling our community to grow with a focus on sustainability,” Chief Administrative Officer Andrew Siltala said. For more information read the report submitted to Council.
