Town Councillor Mike Boughton, Passes Away at Age 72

Ward 2 Councillor, Mike Boughton has died. Boughton passed away on Monday, July 30, at Milton District Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.

“Councillor Mike Boughton was a great man who gave his heart and soul to this community,” said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz. “He was a wonderful family man. He was my personal friend, a valued colleague, and he will be greatly missed by many.”

Councillor Boughton was first elected to Council in 2003. He was elected 3 times, serving 11 years in total. In 2011, he was recognized by the Milton Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year.

When he wasn’t working at his iconic Barber Shop in Downtown Milton, he could be found investing his time and energy into giving back to the community he loved so much. For many years, he organized the annual Golf 4 Cancer tournament raising more than $1 million in support of cancer research. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion’s Milton Branch.

Councillor Boughton was married to his wife Leeni for 52 years, she passed away earlier this year. He is survived by two children and grandchildren.

Visitation, Celebration of Life Details

The visitation will take place at J. Scott Early Funeral Home: 21 James St, Milton Ontario.

  • Sunday August 5: 4 p.m.-8 p.m.
  • Monday August 6: 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.

A celebration of life will follow Tuesday August at 11 a.m., at the First Ontario Milton Centre for the Arts: 1010 Main St East.

  1. In 1987 I moved from Toronto to Milton, when I asked my neighbour where to get a haircut, he replied Mikes….Mike cut my hair & gave my now 26 year old son his first haircut in 1994.
