Town of Milton Plans Omagh Heritage District Conservation Engagement

The village of Omagh is the only village left in Milton from the former Trafalgar Township. It is historically significant and contains a rich heritage that reflects a broad range of the architectural styles that were popular in Ontario from the mid-nineteenth century to the late twentieth century.

As Town staff plan for future growth north of Britannia Road, a public engagement session is being planned to seek views on the future of the Omagh area. This public engagement session will inform the development of a comprehensive plan for the whole village of Omagh, and could include a heritage conservation district.

Considerable change is going to take place in the area with new development to the north, the re-alignment of Britannia Road to the south and planning for the creek and flood plain that runs through the heart of Omagh. Through the public engagement process, the Town’s Planning staff is seeking input to help shape the future of Omagh as an “urban village.”
