van Koeverden to Carry Liberal Flag in Milton

The Liberals have chosen former Olympian Adam van Koeverden as their candidate for the Milton Riding.   The decision came January 20, following an afternoon where Liberal Party members were invited to choose between him, and Riding association volunteer Mian Abubaqr as their candidate for the 2019 federal election.

van Koeverden is ready to talk to non-Liberal supporters.  “It’s important that we work together, and to establish what we have as priorities.  Everybody in Canada and everybody in Milton have more in common than not in common.  It’s important to identify those areas of common ground so we can work together,” he said.  van Koeverden is a former kayaker who competed for Canada winning medals at the Olympics, and world championships.

Prior to 2015  the Town of Milton was in a north Halton riding with the northern areas of Burlington and Oakville. It became the Milton riding through a boundary redistribution process.  Conservative MP Lisa Raitt has represented both ridings since 2008.   Raitt will stand as the Conservative candidate in the federal election, which, takes place October 21, 2019.
