BMO IFFSA | PIFF Toronto 2016 starts the buzz with ARDAAS

The BMO International Film Festival of South Asia [IFFSA] in collaboration with Punjabi International Film Festival [PIFF] brings you the much anticipated premiere of singer and actor turned director Gippy Grewal’s film Ardaas. Gippy Grewal along and lead actor Gurpreet Ghugi introduced Ardaas to the media and invited guests during a press conference held today at Courtyard by Marriott Brampton. The premiere of the film was released worldwide March 11, 2016.

Ardaas is an amalgamation of various sub stories. The film is set in Punjab and protagonist Gurpreet Ghuggi takes the audience through an array of challenges faced by the people of Punjab. Ardaas covers significant social issues in the Punjabi community that are not often discussed.

There are a number of recognized artists involved in this film. Singer turned actor Ammy Virk plays a struggling newcomer in the Punjabi music industry. Mandy Thakar who is generally seen in glamorous roles will play a rural Punjabi woman. Singing sensation Zora Randhawa of 22Da fame will also be making his debut through his role as an oppugner in the film.

Popular comedian Rana Ranbir plays an important role in this film, and contributes as a screenwriter. Other significant contributions to look forward to are the music given by established artists including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Kanwar Grewal.

Ardaas is definitely a film worth making a family trip to the theatres. Gippy Grewal has put a lot of effort into making this film, one that will educate, inform, and entertain all audiences.

The Ardaas film premiere is just the beginning of this year’s festival of fun and entertainment. BMO IFFSA Toronto 2016 is going to be even bigger and better with more than 80 films in over 13 languages, and over 40 unique events for the public.
